It's been 30 years since they began making drums under the TAMA brand, and just ten years since they unveiled the high-end Starclassic series with its ultra-thin maple shells and die-cast hoops. During these 30 years TAMA has remained faithful to certain guiding principles.

For drums, the principle is that nothing should be inserted inside the shell that could compromise shell resonance. For hardware, the principle has always been innovation. Heavy-duty hardware, boom stands and multi-clamps that are now a staple of the modern set were all first produced my TAMA. TAMA innovations have and always will be to "make the impossible possible."

The Starclassic Performer line offers the same Star Cast Mounting System, thin shells and die cast hoops found in the StarClassic Maple Line. Now pro drummers can choose between the brighter, tight sound of StarClassic Maple or the darker tone or the crisp sound of StarClassic Performer birtch. For 2007, StarClassic Performer is available in the new single tom set-up configuration with 24" bass drum.

The Superstar Custom For 2007, we are proud to introduce the all new line of Superstar drums. The concept behind Superstar was to create drums that drummers really want to play with the best value in this price range. Superstar isn't anther example of drums that only imitate the looks and finishes of professional drums. Superstar is more than attitude and pose. Superstar delivers the real and complete deal: fock drums with real professional sound and features never before achieved in this price range. Superstar's main shell material is birch with basswood inner and outer plies. Newly designed "Sound Bridge" high tension lugs ensure excellent sound and strength. Superstar also features the same Star Cast Mounting System and zinc die cast hoops used in Tama's high end Starclassics. In sound, features, looks and quality, Superstar surpasses its price tag.

The Starclassic Maple continues to break new ground by delivering more high end features at an entry level price. Since 2000 alone, we've added Accu Tune bass drum hoops, matching finish wood snare drums, the legendary Omni Ball tom holder, and double braced legs. Our Ready-To-Rock package added thrones and cymbals so players could get everything they needed in one convenient package. Only the great Swingstar shells crafted to the same exacting standards as our high end professional kits have remained the same.

The Imperialstar is the smallest in drum kits and sometimes smaller is better. Especially for rehearsals, cramped stages and young students who deserve a real set to learn on. Until now, the choice was either small sets that were really toys or small set that were really expensive. Stagestar offers a real altanative.
